A new Ebola testing machine is installed in the laboratory of Mongbwalu General Referral Hospital in Ituri eprovince, DR Congo. The equipment allows samples to be tested on site, reducing the need to transport them to Bunia and helping teams obtain results more quickly during the Ebola response.

In an open letter published today, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) called on the US pharmaceutical corporation Gilead Sciences to immediately sell the organization the game-changing and highly effective HIV prevention medicine, lenacapavir, for use in its medical programs worldwide. Despite multiple requests, the company has refused to sell lenacapavir directly to MSF.

The law allows companies in India to produce affordable generic medicines on which MSF and other care providers in developing countries heavily rely to do our work. A protest was organised by Indian civil society on World AIDS Day, 1 December 2011, in front of Novartis' Mumbai Office.
