MSF Statement on Agenda Item 12.3 – Communicable diseases: Immunization Agenda 2030

79th World Health Assembly, May 2026

MSF is witnessing the devastating impact of vaccine-preventable diseases on communities in fragile and conflict-affected areas, where logistical hurdles, administrative blockages and insecurity obstruct access to vaccines.

On malaria, WHO’s emphasis on elimination ignores its resurgence in conflict-affected areas, putting displaced and vulnerable populations at unacceptable risk.

Governments, donors and health actors must ensure equitable access to vaccines for all vaccine-preventable diseases, health products and context-tailored malaria preventive interventions, particularly for populations in conflict-affected areas. This requires flexible, sustained and targeted funding, meaningful government-humanitarian collaboration, investment in alternative delivery models, rapid access to vaccines and essential medical tools in emergencies, and respect for international humanitarian law and principles.
