A new Ebola testing machine is installed in the laboratory of Mongbwalu General Referral Hospital in Ituri eprovince, DR Congo. The equipment allows samples to be tested on site, reducing the need to transport them to Bunia and helping teams obtain results more quickly during the Ebola response.

MSF responds to latest Access to Medicines Index rankings

In June and July 2016 MSF has been conducting vaccination campaigns in several refugee camps and settlements in Greece, targeting more than 4,600 children under fifteen years of age. This campaign aims at protecting refugee children with 10 antigens and preventing diseases such as pneumonia, which is the leading cause of childhood death. MSF calls on Pfizer and GSK to drop the price of the pneumonia vaccine (PCV) for governments and humanitarian organizations in emergency contexts.

MSF welcomes Pfizer’s pneumonia vaccine price reduction for children in humanitarian emergencies

In New York, on Word Pneumonia Day 2015 (Nov 12), MSF volunteers attempted to deliver more than $17 million of fake cash - the equivalent of one day of profits from the pneumonia vaccines for Pfizer globally - to Pfizer's CEO Ian Read. The same day, MSF launched a global petition to ask Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to reduce the price of the pneumococcal vaccine to $5 dollars per child (for all three doses) in developing countries.
