When regular antibiotics can no longer cure - Waleed's story

In 2016, Waleed was injured in a bombing in Yemen. Following this accident, he was treated in different hospitals around the country. But even after months of treatment, he was not healing. Earlier this year, MSF flew Waleed to its reconstructive surgery hospital in Amman, Jordan. There, doctors found out that he had developed an infection in his leg that regular antibiotics could not cure. The medical team managed to identify the appropriate treatment for Waleed and proceeded with further surgeries. Waleed is now recovering at Amman hospital and has started walking again.
