Letter: Civil society calls on European Parliament to support global access to medical tools by removing export prohibition in Union compulsory license
Today, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and over 70 civil society organisations and individuals from around the world sent this open letter to Members of the European Parliament, urging them to support crucial amendments allowing the export of medical tools to countries outside of the European Union (EU) in the proposed Union compulsory license.
MSF supports the Union compulsory license currently being reviewed by the European Parliament and Council, but called for the export prohibition to be removed on 16 January 2024 to allow for a more inclusive and effective response to global health challenges.
