Today, nearly ten million people are receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) in developing countries, but with an estimated additional 18 million people1 eligible for treatment, the job is far from done. With the release of new ART guidelines in 2013,2 the World Health Organization (WHO) has laid out a clear benchmark for the quality of care that national treatment programmes, treatment providers and donors should strive to achieve.
