Health for Sale: Dutch Leadership on Access to Affordable Medicines and Innovation

2 May 2016  Health for Sale Invitation “Set innovation free: Time to fix the patent system” was the cover story of The Economist inHealth for Sale Invitation LR August 2015. The current model of pharmaceutical innovation is not delivering what we need. High medicine prices and a lack of research and development into treatments for diseases of the developing world mean that millions of people are going without needed medicines.

The Netherlands currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. One of its key priorities during its six-month tenure is to tackle exorbitantly high medicine prices. But how will it accomplish real change?

Join Aids Fonds, MSF, DNDi, HAI, KNCV and UAEM for an open debate on how access to affordable medicines can be realised through new models of innovation at the global, European and national levels.

Participants include renowned policy experts, such as James Love (Director of Knowledge Ecology International), representatives from the Dutch Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs, and Members of the European and Dutch Parliaments.
