Expanding Access to Treatment for Hepatitis C in Resource-Limited Settings: Lessons From HIV/AIDS

Improved access to care and treatment for chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in resource-limited settings is receiving international concern. This viewpoint article, published in Clinical Infectious Diseases, highlights a number of important lessons to be learnt from HIV treatment scale up over the last decade, including the need to reduce drug prices and simplify diagnostics, integrate care with other priority services, engage communities, and advocate for increased financial and political commitment.
