More than 800 million people around the world have diabetes, the majority of whom live in low-and middle-income countries.
Newer diabetes monitoring and treatment tools that can reduce complications and simplify treatment for people with diabetes are available in high-income countries, but access to these medical tools is limited in low- and middle-income countries and humanitarian settings, due primarily to affordability.
MSF has significantly increased the number of diabetes consultations in its medical programmes around the world.
