WHO 69th World Health Assembly: Agenda item 15.1 - HIV and viral hepatitis, 2016 - 2021

An HIV support group for children at Epworth Clinic on Harare’s outskirts. MSF has set up community support groups for HIV patients from the Clinic. At Epworth, children and young people come together to give each other support. Through games and education they learn about HIV and how they can live a healthy life.

Ten year old Tanya, who is HIV positive and unable to walk, takes her medication with the help of her neighbor Florence who she calls ‘Mama’. Her mother died in 2010. Florence, Tanya and her mother we all part of the first group of patients to join MSF and the Ministry of Health and Childcare’s Epworth HIV program a decade ago, 28 October 2016.

Fight against HIV doomed to fail without urgent focus on West and Central Africa

MSF provides ambulatory and door to door testing for HIV. This man was born with aids, he led a normal life thanks to his medicine until he got to the university. People made fun of him for taking pills, so he stopped taking them. He his now deaf and blind. His uncle communicates with him by writting on his arm.
