Since the launch of our ‘Time for $5’ petition in March 2024, we have been overwhelmed by the incredible support from people around the world, calling on Danaher Corporation and Cepheid to stop profiteering off lifesaving GeneXpert medical tests. Thanks to your dedication, the petition garnered 206,937 signatures from 194 countries.
Today, October 17, the Time For $5 coalition, alongside other global health activists, went to hand-deliver these petition signatures to Danaher at their headquarters in Washington, DC.
We included an open letter to the CEOs of Danaher and Cepheid, asking them to stop ignoring the global calls to reduce the price of ALL GeneXpert tests in low- and middle-income countries, and to come clean about the cost of producing their tests by finally carrying out their promised third-party audit. We urge them to respond with concrete steps to address these demands, by October 25, 2024.
